Transportation Funding Plan

Below are links to four documents providing more detailed information about the transportation funding proposal currently before the Senate. The changes are contained in HB 1590, as amended by the Senate in committee on June 29-30 with a plan developed principally by state Sen. Vince Fumo. It would increase state money by an average of about $1 billion per year over the first 12 years for highways, bridges and mass transit.

Document 1 summarizes changes to be made to Pennsylvania’s overall system of transportation funding. They include additional money to be provided by the Turnpike Commission based upon revenue derived from toll increases on the existing Turnpike and new tolls on Interstate 80.

Document 2 provides a breakdown of all funding sources, new and current, for mass transit.

Document 3 is a list of funding for local transit agencies in fiscal year 2007-08 under the new system.

Document 4 shows the annual growth for the next forty years of the new funding to be derived from the Turnpike and I-80 tolls.
